Thank you for your writing especially from Hallo. I read it in the middle of the street while Hallo was sitting on Peter’s arm and when I came to the last word of the topic namely “hallo” the same lady shouted a scream of joy and made herself more comfortable, the thumb in her mouth, and listened seriously. Enclosed is the power of attorney already signed. I still don’t know how it will work out with the witnesses since the consul will be closed until Monday and I got the letter today just before closing time and didn’t read it before I was already on the road, but I’ll have to see who I can find tomorrow. We also thank for the cuttings from the “Politiken” and the story about the six strong but the car to the steamer we really thought that we could have saved that one. Of course, a street car ticket that Lars hadn’t figured on but if you are going to have a party then let there be a party. Now we are speculating where about we should meet at the 40th degree, what do you think about Nice, France? And would you like your summer vacation arranged in February/March? Where you then could watch carnival? Or is it perhaps not summer vacation alone you would spend at that degree but stay permanently since you are asking about work permit for bookkeepers and to make jams? We can tell you it is still not pineapple you can preserve here but there are a lot of other things to can. There is not much bookkeeping going on here but wouldn’t you love to play uncle? but I have to add that the position is with no salary but if it’s only for the summer vacation you don’t need at all to help. You can relax, swim, take a walk, just exactly as in Fakse Ldo, And the piano has gone. I also think that the minister is good enough for 200 Kronen but it is strange anyway that he wants t have credit since it is a wealthy family. The one picture from “Politikken” the one of the boat with full sails we could very much like to have sent, the other one is definitely for you. We have several copies here. In regards to the census I don’t know what I should be done about that, last year Frederic wrote me on at Kurd AdeIer’s gade but now I can’t suddenly have moved to Kerteminde gade without the register form or should you write a moving form from the first of November? If you do thct wouldn’t you let Frederik know? Otherwise he might also write me on. This time you wouldn’t get any German jokes although Peter is not yet in bed but he has found a good sofa corner to teke a nap in, no he learns English.
The sailing here went well and we don’t have all the storms and bad weather to fight with as in the canal and the North Sea. We are now about to take down the mast, sailing through the canal is being planned. 400 km with 150 LOCKS! Instead of sail power we will have to use hand power. Peter has to run along the canal and pull “Restmore” with a line over the shoulder.
Now we finish with loving greetings,
Lars, Hallo, Rater, and Else.
Friday – Dear friends – today it is High Holy Day, all offices are closed but the captain on a Swedish steamer S.S. “Tor” and crew have signed together with a Swedish ships chandler who is living here. I hope it is o.k.
Greetings and handshake, Else.
Next address: Le Consulate du Denmark, Sette, but it is completely impossible for us to figure out when we get there, in case you need anything or give a message in a hurry you could send it postrestened Tolouse. We will check in the post office there. If you have any of the old ‘`Vikings” you keep buying for no reason wouldn’t you please send them? We are especially interested in that kind of magazine.
