The Danish yacht “Restmore” which goes around the world has arrived in Rabat.Yesterday morning, we could see in our port, anchored not far from the pontoon of the Nautical Club, a small yacht bearing the name of “Rest-More” and flying the Danish flag, with a white cross, at its mast. This small building had arrived the previous evening, around 8 p.m., coming from Port Lyautey. As many curious have done, we boarded the yacht, the owner of which, Mr. Peter Dohm, received us better. He is a young man, very simple. We have no trouble guessing in him a Nordic of which he has the asserted type. An energetic head, a little rough and eyes where intelligence and dream are close. He hardly speaks French, but badly possesses German to perfection; it is therefore easy for us to interview him in this language. He shows us around his yacht. It is a small • building of only 10 tons, 10 m. long by 3 meters wide; it has a single mast and is fitted with a 19-20 hp auxiliary motor. The back is reserved for the home of Mr. Dohm and his family. Because the intrepid navigator travels in the company of Mrs. Dohm and her two children: Lars, three and a half, and Anne, two and a half. At the front is the kitchen, provisions, reserve sails, etc. The Rest-More is not a new boat. It was built a quarter of a century ago, in Pool (England) and toured everywhere before becoming the property of Mr. Peter Dohm. The latter declared to us to want to carry out with his family, a cruise around the world and put to do this all the time that it will be necessary. In fact, he has already been traveling for two years. Departed from Copenhagen on August 23, 1934, the ” Rest-More ”has already visited Sweden, Norway, Holland and Belgium. In this last country, the navigators wintered for six months and then continued their voyage by visiting the English coasts and French coasts this, from Brest to Bordeaux. In the autumn of 1935, the sailors folded up their mast and, powered, visited the canals of France, ending with the Canal du Midi, as far as Sète France. They then approached the Spanish coast, stopped in Barcelona and Valence. On July 18, the day of General Franco’s revolt, the “Rest-More” was anchored in the port of Malaga where Mr. Dohm intended to stock up on food and gas. But already there was a lot of fighting in the port and in the city. Bullets whistled around the yacht and Mr Dohm made up his mind to sail away. He tried to refuel, 20 miles further south, but was unable to dock, as the residents of the coastal village fired on the yacht. From then on, the “Rest-More” tried to make it to Gibraltar which, Stopped by the lack of wind, it took five days to reach. He came to the end of food and fuel. Well received by the English, the navigators spent three weeks in Gibraltar, from where they witnessed, from afar, the fierce fighting of La Linea. Finally, they set sail for Port Lyautey, Morocco where they stayed again a town hall before reaching Rabat Morocco. Mr. Dohm is delighted by the cordial welcome he found with the members of the Club Nautique de Rabat. He was surprised to see the development and activity of our local yachting. He intends, after his stay in Rabat, to go to Casablanca, from where he will try to reach the Canary Islands, as soon as the developments in Spain allow him to do so. His itinerary then includes Martinique, Trinidad and the passage of the Panama Canal.

He intends to follow on this route the route already taken by Alain Gerbault, whose books he has on board and whose directions he will follow. – I have been traveling for two years already, says Mr. Peter Dohm in closing. I am not in a hurry. If necessary, I will take ten years to complete my world tour! Mr. Dohm also told us that having wanted to take a swim in the sea between Port Lyautey and Rabat, he was about to go into the water, when a five-meter shark grazed the yacht. Needless to say, Mr. Dohm gave up his bath that day. The friendly navigator is, at the same time, a journalist. He corresponds, in fact, to several Danish newspapers specializing in nautical sports and publishes in others the report of his voyage.
We wish him and his family a pleasant stay in our city.
