Many thanks for your letter, birthday greetings, saileports and money. As nice as it is to get a money letter but packed with such news the nice part you almost forget about, that was a terrible surprise with the bank, but how can our obligations have been put in as a loan for the check ( Wechsel) without us knowing about it and while to have them in save keeping. I do find that a little bit mysterious and I wonder if the bank hasn’t made a little mistake. Still I, am so very tired of your having so much trouble with my money arrangements that I almost think it would be better to pay the money for the check, that Marie is nervous I can easily understand even though I don’t understand in which way the check has anything to do with her, it doesn’t have to go as far as that. that the man who bought the obligations should have his money returned. May be I ought to write a letter of consolation. Otherwise we are fine with the exception of Peter’s teeth which have been growling so he had to visit a dentist, that’s why we will stay here about a week and then it goes southward, but as you wrote it is kind of messy with the Mediterranean. Our plan is to go through the Canal Bordeaux, Marseille in order to get to a milder climate. It is quiet late to sail by the Spanish coast and the anchoring grounds in the Spanish harbors are not so safe and then of course there is this with the money, and Peter and Lars get piece of mind (quiet heart) but what it is also possible that Anna and I can find each our own bullfighter. for now the course is Bordeaux and then we will have to see what Mr. Mussolini has figured out. We have heard that “Poiitikken” (Copenhagen news-paper) would like to have a photograph of us. We pose for pictures about 6 to 8 times every day so we have sent them one and asked for them to return it and send the money to you if there is any. The photograph you can include in your collection and money in Lars’s. I have more important news. I can tell you that we have acquired a radio of five lengths with a loudspeaker. The radio we got already in Brest from a Dutch captain who had a better one and furthermore could not get any sound out of this one and we received it hoping to meet a radio expert who could tell us if it is possible to get a sound out of it or if it is only for Lars to play with and to throw overboard for their enjoyment. The expert actually arrived down from the heavens. One morning we got a visit from France’s International Ship’s Inspector. He thought that “Restmore” was too good and too well equipped but advised us that we ought to get the radio repaired and gave us the address of a name of company Radio maritime man who is president got interested in us and offered a lot of time on our instrument which has been put in shape and now we only the parts that were broken and since we want to buy them now while the money is almost finished we. Have to bother you and ask you to send another 300 francs addressed Le Consulate Danoise, Place du Basin, St. Nazeire, France as soon as possible. That was too had that you didn’t follow through Marie, and came and celebrated the birthday with us. There was chocolate and orange, cheese, so Lars and Hallo were Completely open mouthed about all the nice eateries. Hallo is not nearly as big as Lars, it’s only on the picture, but of course she has changed quite a bit since she left Copenhagen, Thank you for all your troubles with the piano. Has anything shown up? Thank you also for the pictures of you and foxelethepen (?) surroundings and with Mrs Schubert, we must say how well it looks but with that we only meant Marie after having met you on the gardener display (exhibition). Now I really think that I soon have emptied myself for this time and will be waiting to hear new news soon and send our collected most loving greetings,
yours anna, Lars Peter, Else.
Hallo We have sent “Politikken” 2 pictures namely also the one of “Restmore” seen from stern but since that is the only one we have and we don’t have the negative we would like very much if you return it to us when you get a chance. Hallo sits on the potty and plays with father Xmas but keeps on constantly saying “bow wow” about it as if it was a dog.
The radio the director repaired for only 50 francs and he will write to the company asking if he may deliver the lamps to us cheaper. The lamps are of course otherwise quite a black eye. I am in full swing with knitting warm stockings for Lars from some of all the yarn. Wo have the most beautiful summer weather here. Last night we sat out in the cockpit and wrote until 12 o’clock.
