Many thanks for the letter and the magazine “Sail Sports” and the pictures. That Marie has become an unknown person is not our fault but Valdemar’s. You yourself noticed it on the first picture you mailed and the copy we now have shows it much clearer. There you can see that it is Marie. I came back from the post office loaded with so much mail that I could hardly carry it all. It turned out to be studying books so we are really considering staying here for the winter so we can chew our way through the whole thing. First the 4 Sail Sports Magazines will not take too much time but then 22 books, navigatin books, cruising books, novels, one among them has caused Peter’s dreams in the nearly 2 to 3 months of sleepless nights about Tahiti. There is a picture of the boat being visited by 4 Tahitian ladies with only one piece of cloth wrapped around them. And 7 big fat children’s books, so we were considering if Lars shouldn’t buy for all his money a boat of his own on account of too little space on “Restmore’s” bookshelf. It is so good that “Restmore” is so far away from the reach of the Commercial bank, and the tentacles are probably not so long that they could reach across the northsea, it might be worthwhile to come back to Denmark with the ship. The best would be if we could find a good warm place which is better suited for summer vacation for Marie’s legs than Gilleleje, Denmark’s rough climate. So that you could recognize the many changes of the boat. A lot of things happened in Poole. The shipwright (boat builder) was so happy for seeing “Restmore” again so partly on account of it and partly because we have got a promise of being able to sell some articles to a British Yachts Magazine (they have already printed a picture of the boat and us) they offered us credit for different work on “Restmore” and following Frederik’s less than good example we have already accepted the offer, hauled out “Restmore” and painted her bottom, caulking the deck and had a wooden structure made for the cockpit against bad weather. It can be completely or partly covered in 3 sections, so Peter says there is something to the old saying “mit mehr Kredit als geld – so kommt man durch die welt” (with more credit than money – this is how you get around the world). In order to quiet you down I can tell you that we have not signed any checks on account of it, neither on the front or on the top or the bottom of it so I don’t believe that you get any difficulties with this business story. We have not given your address as anybody else so the whole thing doesn’t need to taken care of before our trip is well completed. One evening we got a visit from a lady and a gentleman in Poole. He was a nephew of the man who had “restmore” built. His uncle had died in world war I and his widow is paralyzed foe the last 12 years. I visited her, showed her pictures of “Restmore” and told her about our trips and she told about theirs and showed me their pictures. We were also invited by her nephew. Lars, Anna, and I spent the whole day, and he picked up Peter at “Restmore” in the evening and since he was on a bicycle he put peter very thoughtfully on a bus and asked the conductor to let him off in the right place. You see, we are clever in the English language, even Lars has learned to say “good morning”. In this way he captures the british hearts and if Peter and I weren’t especially nice to help I am afraid that Lars’ and Annals stomachs were soon ruined. Last Sunday their booty was 7 big pieces of chocolate, home baked English plum cake 2 oranges, and a whole lot of apples, but in addition we have to tell that it was a. Sunday of record. The British are very casual in their dress in Bournemouth, UK streets that it is just as fancy as Østerbrogade København Denmark traffic. The ladies walk casually around in a bathing suit or in shorts without bags and the gentlemen are promenading in short pants so there is a renaissance in Peter’s wardrobe since he always wears out the knees first. I am anxious about the health insurance. In this case it would have paid to send a registered letter. I had intended to go up with the boat myself but did not reach so I sent it with the mail. I hope that Valdemar doesn’t get to much trouble running around with it. Now at last our loving greetings from yours adoring Lars, Anna, Peter, Elsa.
No increase of the list has come, neither in regards to reserve, proviant such as dogs, cats, or children. All this wisdom comes from a Norwegian living in Oxford that we met in Poole. He was an old sailor who went ashore and is now director of the Morris Car factory. So it was not just a lord not a whiskey he treated with – no, this time it was a real homemade Swedish punch. He had a colored converted Norwegian pilot boat that he had sailed to Poole with his friend and sailor buddy who now was a ships Chandler in Poole and who had a real good sailor name namely Columbus. There was some doubt raised as to whether the 2 would reach England but he was of the opinion that if the other Columbus had hit America he probably could also hit England. our address we will have gone across the Chanel again: P.
