Martinique, 8/27/1937
Now your other letter, has also arrived from Grenada by the way of Copenhagen, Paris, Bordeaux, directly to Martinique and thank you very much for it. I felt it in the big toe that there was one on the way and therefore I waited with finishing this letter. A big fancy white steamer came today with it that picked up bananas and probably will take this letter back across the pond but not over to Kattegat from Grenada, because you probably now are back in Kaderminder gade and finish with the swimming trip in Kattegat and have started your jogging in fælledparken copenhagen. I just want to ask Veldemar to train well in swimming because now Lars is starting to race. He is swimming alone with a cork belt quite far out from the beach and all around “Restmore” and back again about 200 m. Peter arrived safely back from Guadeloupe with his 7 gentlemen. They have paid and left 3 bottles of rum, 2 of Champagne, one bottle of Bordeaux and one of white wine on board. The last 3 we drink happily but even if you don’t believe it the rum we leave, it is probably dangerous here and we refuse every punch. The gentlemen had 2 along to Guadeloupe and Peter drunk one single little glass, he claims. Peter came back with nice little dinghy, the old one needed a rest and on the new one we can put a sail and there is a lot of request for a sail with it from the Dohm family.
