At anchor in the inter coastal waterway from the southern tip of Florida to New York
Dear friends, in between nursing, diaper washing, receiving guests and going out on excursions I have now found 5 minutes to write memories to you and thank you for the 2 last letters from 20.may and 8.June and the Sailsports magazine. Our baby Per Alton is like everything American the best or the biggest in the world. Definitely he is the very cutest baby people ever saw in the world or the worst loudest screamer his parents ever heard in the world, but of course, America is the whole world. His basket is hung from the ceiling and then he gets a real swing from his 2 older siblings (sister and brother) who fight for the chance to give him a push. Otherwise he has become an old number. We are now sailing in a wonderful channel and now in the evening we just drop the anchor and creep into the cabin which we close with a mosquito net since we otherwise would be eaten up alive. The baby is very insulted that he has to go to daycare center instead of being registered in number eleven and he will look around if can’t become caretaker for a millionaire’s house and let his voice ring through the hall, then you can get a long nose. The consul is the leader of the Danish Brotherhood and made a party for us one evening with around 40 Danes and smørrebrød, a logbook for Peter, a slip for me, a sailor’s suit for Lars, a dress for Muse, and a pullover for the baby. We met a Dane and his wife who are caretakers of the millionaire’s house in the summertime, the fine folks live here only for 3 month during winter and we get the opportunity to see the surroundings that such people live in. We were along with them at the beach and the baby was christened in the ocean. I really had thought that he only should dip his big toe or maybe get a little foot wet but then all of a sudden there came a big wave that rushed all over his little black-haired head. If it’s not too much trouble for you we would really like to know what Danish newspapers write about us. Maybe just the general idea as to whether we should be friendly or stuck up when we bump into them. Now I’m anxiously waiting to hear if everything came out alright. Thura (Island) is the old Danish sailboats center and we hope you get some real sailor’s stories of the old pirates. Why in the world don’t you keep a summer vacation tent out in your own garden? Of course, you don’t need to buy in Halnos factory, then maybe you would have got permission to delay the summer vacation until X-mas. Now it’s time for me to start with the most loving greetings. Otherwise there wouldn’t be room for the baby’s greetings and everybody and also Lars, Muse, Peter, Else and Baby
