Is anybody listening?
Once I thought I knew what
this world was all about and
could voice an opinion and
be reasonably certain I was
correct. But that was a long
time ago, however the world
and the people within the
world has changed. These
days it seems everyone has
an opinion and everyone is
right. You can no longer be
different because everyone
is different.
The world is no longer black
and white. It has become a
blur of creative color. It
changes so quickly you don’t
know from one second to the
next what will happen. I
think back to my childhood
and I remember the day JFK
was assassinated. It seemed
as though that was the
dividing line in the
progression of human
history. No longer were we
innocent. Sure, there were
wars, people dying and
conflicts at home, but now
for the 2nd time
in our history, our
president had been
assassinated. We will never
know who was truly
responsible, and I guess
sometimes its better that
way. Now that was the black
and white period. Something
happened that was
unthinkable, and you knew
about it.
These days as I mentioned
before, the world has become
a blur of rights and wrongs.
Which side do we seek? Who
do we believe? Who is right?
Words are like weapons in a
way. We listen to people
spin their captivating
stories each day on the
radio or tv and, we feel
their piercing meanings deep
within our souls, but still,
we fall into a trance that
we cannot shake. How do we
come back to reality before
it’s too late?
How do we divide the rights
and wrongs and come up with
the right equation? It is
said that a house divided
against itself cannot stand.
Yet from our very early days
we have been either
Republican or Democrat. For
or against. It is always the
ying and the yang.
Only in war has our country
come together for a common
cause. Why? The answer is
simple. We knew our enemy.
These days we cannot face
the reality that we are our
own worst enemy. We
talk about change but never
do. We elect people based on
their rhetoric instead of
record and we expect
something different. We add
2+ 2 and expect 3.
There have been many famous
people in our history. Sad
to say I am not one nor will
I ever be one. I have read
about them, heard about them
and sometimes even
envisioned them. But when
you get right down to it,
where are they now? Many
people from my childhood
have gone on to become
successful, But I have not
seen their names in the
papers, read of them in
books, or heard of them in
the news. I believe it takes
someone very powerful, or
with the right connections
to be of distinction from us
lesser mortals. If I were
elected President, I would
think very long and hard
about what the lesser
mortals have had to endure
through the various
political years. The
promises made and not kept.
The wrongs done and never
corrected.
Now you probably read this
and say this guy is a nut,
full of hot air, crazy to a
fault, and you would
probably be right, but then
again, no sane person would
put up with the kind of
America that our land is
becoming. Little by little
we are losing our land,
culture, beliefs and even
our dignity.
I wish for once whatever
trance we are in can be
lifted, our eyes opened just
long enough to see how the
world really is and maybe,
just maybe we could change
it. I am not
trying to change your mind
for I know that’s
impossible. I’m just trying
to give you another
perspective and a chance to
do something more with your
life. Spock said it best.
The needs of the many
outweigh the needs of the
one. Which one are you?
