GOOD and EVIL©
Chapter 1:
……..On the seventh day God
rested….He looked at all he
had created and said ….”IT
WAS GOOD”.
Let
us take a look at this most
profound word “Good” and we
find just like its
counterpart…evil, it only
has four
letters…coincidence???? The
dictionary defines Good
as…of favorable character or
tendency…bountiful and
fertile….free from injury or
disease…not
depreciated…commercially
sound…certain to last or
live…certain to pay or
contribute…of the highest
worth or reliability and the
list goes on. So now that we
know what good is what does
this mean to us as common
men living in an uncommon
world???
Before
mankind, before the heavens
and the earth, before
existence as we know it,
there was a supreme being we
have come to know as God! God
has been epitomized in many
different ways…we say that
God is the creator…the one
and only…the beginning and
the end…The key to
salvation. Above
all that we envision of this
maker of man, is the single
most important aspect of our
relationship with him. It is
the fundamental building
block of every religious
belief. NO ONE WITHOUT THIS
INDIVIDUAL IN THEIR LIVES IS
EVER AT PEACE. Without
the good that he radiates
there can only be evil and
unrest.
Man’s
self-worth is many times
based on the GOOD he exudes
during his daily life. Many
people will say..He is a
good politician, or he is a
good preacher. Both of these
times it is said with
enthusiasm and a strong
desire to be just like the
person they admire. The
paradox of it all is that
men try to emulate men and
seldom see the futility of
this endeavor. If men were
to try and emulate the only
person worth emulating
(GOD), the good that this
would bear would overshadow
all else including evil.
Unlike
Thomas who said until I see
the nail prints in his hand
and touch the wound in his
side I will not believe he
is risen. We in the 20th century
have had centuries to become
aware of the revelation that
GOD has indeed risen and
will come again at which
time you will be judged. While
alive man has the
opportunity to atone for his
sins and become right in the
sight of God. After we die
its too late. You are out of
chips, you have to leave the
table, the game is over.
People think of it as a game
unfortunately and think they
have many hands left. Hopefully
you will have
lived a life worthy of his
love and be invited into the
kingdom of heaven.
Simon
Peter was a good man who
needed the physical evidence
to support his faith. On the
other hand we have the bible
as our road map. It
is sometimes referred to as
the “Good Book”, but is
always referred to as Gods
word. How
patient and good is this
person known as God that he
would give us all this time
to right our ways and
believe in his word. In
every instance in the bible
the word good is used at the
most unique times as for
instance… the Good Sheppard,
the Good Samaritan. Just as
the people of old looked
after their brothers and
sisters, so too does our
Good Sheppard look after us.
Day
by day our very existence
depends on his not
forgetting us for it is
said…he holds the world in
his hands. He knows
everything we do every
second of every day. What
would become of us if this
divine person were to simply
stop thinking of us for one
second?? Remember, it only
took God 6 days to create
the world, but in reality,
is a day when we speak of
God a second, a minute or a
blink of an eye? This same
God that we praise each
Sunday, and pray to save our
loved ones, or ask for even
the simplest of things,
hears all our prayers. He
knows our weaknesses and our
faults. Above all he knows
and loves each and every one
of us even though we seldom
show our love for him in
return, he never forsakes us
but is always ready to hold
us close and protect us like
a Good Sheppard. On the 7th day
he rested and he looked at
all he had created and
said…this is GOOD!
