When God Looks Down from Above ©
By Joseph P. Gimenez
2010 for the Red Hook Series
I heard an
old story once sung by my mother
It was
about the heaven above and, our Father
Not the
earthly one that I have come to know
But the one
above who loves us so
I heard an
ole time story of Jesus and His glory
How he came
to earth of his own accord
To save us
all from earths sin and sword
The pain of
sin he wiped away with just a word
This man we
came to call master and friend
Asked
nothing but loyalty even to the end
We pray for
his return each and every day
And he
never forgets the things he did say
He said I
love you with out compromise,
He said I
love you both the wise and unwise
He said
suffer the little children to come onto me
For its
their pure hearts that only I can see
Refrain:
Amazing
Jesus how great is his grace
He not only
loves you but the entire human race
Though all
we have done to this King of all Kings
He never
forgets us as his love he still brings.
My people
shall humble themselves and honor me
For its
those people that I was placed upon a tree
The scars
that I bore and the holes in my hand
Were for my
children and the freedom of man
From the
ravages of sin and the horror and shame
For without
being born again what is the gain?
Your
struggles to build a home here on earth
Is like
building on sand for what is the worth?
The sea
will soon wash away all that you toil
For the
riches of heaven is not found in the soil
Lift up
your eyes to your true home above
For its
Jesus our lord that we truly should love.
Refrain:
Amazing
Jesus how great is his grace
He not only
loves you but the entire human race
Though all
we have done to this King of all Kings
He never
forgets us as his love he still brings.
