Where have the twin buildings
gone that once reached to the sky?
2 airplanes took them out one
day, and we still try to reason why.
That day the sky was dark and
ominous as people tried to save,
The lives that they held on to
while rescuers the perils braved.
The date will forever burn in
our memory as a sign
That we never know when or where
will be our time
We watched in horror as people
tried in vain to escape
From the fiery tower that
imprisoned them and thus sealed their fate.
On TV you could see our enemies
quite plain
They gave shouts of jubilation
and did not feel our pain
To them it was just another
enemy and one less to remove
They seemed to hate America and
had something more to prove
As the days passed and tensions
grew our President stood firm
It was not just anger but a
thirst for revenge that in him did burn
He was our leader and follow him
we would
The terrorist that caused us
harm would regret this if he could.
It took many a year and still
the battle rages on in a land far away
Many lives were lost on 9/11 and
still continue to be lost today
We wonder where it will end and
will we ever be at peace?
The souls that were lost that
day their voices never cease.
Our flag still flies, but we are
scarred for life from this horrendous thing
But out of the ashes we have a
hope that only a new day can bring
Our brave soldiers wage a war
against an unseen foe
They seem endless but our
resolve will bring us toe to toe.
So next time you see a soldier
carrying a heavy load
Remember it’s for you he carries
it along a dusty road
Eventually this war will end and
he if lucky will return
To the family and friends left
behind and for him still yearn.
