The flower of my Garden ©
By Joseph P. Gimenez
2010 for the Red Hook Series
I saw a flower the other day
that rivaled your beauty in every way
It had no thorns or things to hurt
but its fragrance floated over the earth
This magnificent thing in no garden did grow
for if fenced in to who
would it show?
It must be free as you are my dear.
For freedom brings beauty beyond compare
So, as I watch you while you slowly dress.
Your figure, your skin is such I confess
That I have never seen a more beautiful thing,
except the day you took my ring.
Those days are past but, in my memory, remain,
your beauty is the drug that makes me refrain.
From looking or needing any woman but you,
for who can match the matchless you?
So, what does it matter to a man such as me?
for the gift I received will always be free.
If a million books were written they would not be true,
For no words can express my feelings for you.
Together we will be until the end of time.
I thank God above for
making you mine.
