Remember the
days when you went to School?
I went to a
Catholic one that was pretty cool
The girls
were pretty but hard to impress
They took no
notice of me which was my fault I confess.
I tried all
the normal things guys should do
Even hanging
on monkey bars and acting funny too
But there was
something missing from my repertoire it seems
The pretty
girls only ended up in my dreams.
Of course, I
was no brain as brains would go
There were
much smarter people than me don’t you know
My looks were
average but my feelings were secure
I went to
school daily and checked my heart at the door.
I wish those
days hadn’t ended maybe there would be a chance
To take one
of those beauties to the school’s prom dance
But alas it
was fated not to be so
For the plane
was made ready and away I would go.
No one missed
me at least that’s what it seemed
But it only
took me 4 years to realize my dream
In the Navy
where stationed I met my future wife
And together
we’re together for the rest of our life.
So, you see
sometimes what you think you want isn’t what you need at all,
It comes to
you and it takes some time for its written on the wall.
Your friends
will eventually find you some far off day,
And once
again you’ll find yourself written in the play.
