Calypso©
By Joseph P. Gimenez
2010 for the
Red Hook Series
Dey say the nite tyme is de best
tyme meson
Dey say you can have your cake
and always drink sum rum
Dey say that beauty lies within
every beast my dear
And when you are out with me
have no reason to fear.
Dey say that carnival is the
place to be
You can kick it up with your
friends its one big patay
Dey say you never have to run
alone
For you are partaying on this
island we all call home.
Calypso is the music that brings
out the island beat
Calypso is the rythym of dancing
in the street
Calypso is what we wait for all
year long for
So grab your woman and make the
streets your dance floor.
Dey say the lovers come and go
each night here
Dey say that you can find what
you need to end despair
Dey say that when ever you find
you need a friend
Join de celebration for the
calypso never ends.
Dey say that our island is a
little too small
Dey say that in Aruba you can
have it all
Dey say this and that about the
place me call home
But I tell you me friend from
this island I will not roam. For
Calypso is the music that brings
out the island beat
Calypso is the rythym of dancing
in the street
Calypso is what we wait all year
for
So grab you woman and make the
streets your dance floor.
